The Soundboard - European Spruce
The Soundboard is the most crucial element of a piano’s tone. The wood must be lightweight yet strong enough to withstand the down-bearing of the strings and still transmit the slightest of vibrations with great sensitivity. European spruce fits the bill. It has a short growing season, so the material is easily acquired and therefore a “greener” choice. Young Chang’s Soundboard will help you play at peak performance due to its lightness, high rigidity, and lack of gaps in the wood caused by the tree’s resin.
